January 2nd, 2018

This is the most humble man you will probably ever meet.

He is kind and generous, but if you don’t know him, he is a hard ass. He ran a crew in the oil field, typically with a bunch of men who were unable to walk and chew gum at the same time, and most of those men being more than twice his age!!

Working in the Bakken, he’d work 24-36 even 40 hours in a row, just to keep rigs on their timelines.

Before he was managing this company, he was a solider in the Minnesota National Guard. He served this country as a combat engineer, and deployed to Afghanistan in 2014, which means he found the buried explosives and cleared the routes for other troops. As expected, he’s seen some carnage, which has made him a little bit of a hard ass, to everyone but me.

To everyone else, he is cold, strict, firm and at times, very blunt and abrasive. He doesn’t let many people in, and doesn’t trust more than a handful of people in this world.

Today, I was struggling with capturing cold, because I knew he was cold but getting him to be cold around me is impossible. We are each others soul mates, and we bring out the best in each other. He toughens me up, and I tone him down. We exist in a harmony that I didn’t even know existed before meeting him.
